Saudi Arabia has issued a Royal Order banning foreign consultancies from government contract awards in the Kingdom, with exceptions in special cases or where Saudi Arabian expertise isn’t available.

In line with the order, all government departments and agencies in Saudi are required to award contracts exclusively to experienced Saudi Arabian consultancy offices and companies.

This decision came to assist Saudi owned firms in their growth after the value of contracts awarded to foreign firms was estimated at SAR12 billion ($3.2bn) according to a report by the General Auditing Bureau.
