Saudi Arabia will extend new work visas for expats working in the private sector for two years instead of one, without additional fees. The announcement came from the Ministry of Labour and Social Development early this week.
Companies can cancel old visas and apply for new visas if the visa requirements are still valid, said the ministry.
This announcements came after the ministry had announced in 2017 that they would be reducing work visa duration from two years to one year. Although, domestic workers and foreigners working in the government were granted an exemption and continued to receive two year visas.
The ministry said the changes aim to assist the “practical operational aspects facing private sector enterprises” and help them to “overcome obstacles and stimulate the private sector”.
