Saudi Arabia held their first ever women’s business forum as they aim to increase the number of women in the workforce.
The Women in Leadership Economic Forum, sponsored by Saudi Aramco, called “Let’s Talk About Tomorrow”, had talks from prominent women in business and aimed to show how women are important to the success of the economy moving forward.
The forum’s talks centred around the empowerment of women and youth in the business sector with the objective of creating a sustainable economy in the Kingdom and encouraging them to play leading roles.
The two day event, held in Riyadh, had more than 900 attendees, comprised of business leaders and entrepreneurs.
Also in attendance were 300 female university students, making up more than half of those who graduate in Saudi Arabia, however, they still struggle to find work.
Currently, women make up 22% of the workforce, but the government is working to increase this to 30% by 2030.
