Saudi Arabia’s Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) reportedly issued their first license in Jeddah, allowing travel agencies ability to issue tourist visas.
This follows the restructuring of the travel and tourism sector by categorizing agencies depending on the services they offer.
Category D gives permission for agencies to issue visas inside and outside the Kingdom for tourism, educational and medical purposes.
It was reported, in October, that the Kingdom would start issuing tourist visas gradually. The first stage of this initiative will give authorised travel agencies authorization to issue visas.
The Kingdom previously implemented a similar initiative in 2014 to allow improvement for the program’s infrastructure.
